The Dandelion
Year:
2023
The Dandelion sculpture draws its inspiration from the first bloom of spring, capturing the purity and innocence of nature’s awakening. Echoing the words of Walt Whitman, who spoke of the dandelion’s simple and fair emergence, this piece embodies the essence of a fresh start—an emblem of new beginnings and untainted beauty. Crafted from mild steel, the sculpture stands an impressive 3.4 metres high, with delicate, floating forms that evoke the lightness of dandelion seedlings drifting in the breeze. The piece celebrates both the quiet resilience and the transient beauty of this humble flower, symbolising growth, renewal, and hope.
This piece will be featured as part of this year outdoor exhibition in association with Axle Arts and arts organisation Somerset Art Works (SAW) are collaborating in an exhibition of outdoor sculpture at the Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa in Bath from 23rd May - 29th September 2025. The Dandelion invites viewers to reflect on the simplicity and power of nature’s cycles. We are proud to present this work, offering a moment of calm and connection within the stunning outdoor setting of the exhibition.
