The Acorn
Year:
2024
The second in an extraordinary series, this Acorn sculpture is a striking tribute to craftsmanship and nature, standing at an impressive 205cm high with a 140cm diameter. Hand-forged from mild steel, the piece showcases exceptional detail and artistry—its crown composed of over 700 individually hammered and shaped elements. Each component contributes to the sculpture’s rich texture and organic form, highlighting the uniqueness of every part within the whole. The surface has undergone an acid treatment and is sealed with oil, preserving its beautifully rusted patina and deep, earthy tones. This treatment not only enhances the sculpture’s visual depth but also protects it against the elements. With its bold scale and commanding presence, this acorn offers a stunning juxtaposition of industrial material and natural form. It creates a powerful visual statement—one that speaks of strength, growth, and timeless design—perfectly suited to transform any garden or landscape into a space of contemplation and wonder.
This piece is currently available to view as part of the 2025 exhibition at the Cotwolds Sculpture Park
